As the leading platform for off-grid solutions and renewable energy, the OFF-GRID Expo + Conference 2023 (OEC) once again promises to be an event packed with innovation. This year’s international congress trade fair will take place on December 7-8, 2023 at Messe Augsburg. The TechDay on December 6, 2023 enables participants to gain some in-depth insights and training in the latest technologies and products. The OEC is an event for all stakeholders in the self-sufficient power supply sector, whether in industry, trades, for installers, retailers or project planners, employees of aid organizations, universities or public administrations. In addition to the proven format, this year visitors can also look forward to numerous innovations such as Hall 1 as a new venue, the second stage “Innovation Stage” and the open access ticket. Participants will therefore now be able to access all the events on the OEC program: trade fair, conference and TechDay, and exploit the knowledge transfer and networking opportunities to the full.
A highlight of this year's event is the exclusive side event: the shuttle bus to MAN Energy Solutions will be operating on December 8, 2023. Participants have the unique opportunity to join an exclusive tour of the “ILLUMINE” hybrid energy plant, which combines renewable energies, thermal power generation and energy storage systems. In addition, Victron Energy BV will be presenting an off-grid charging station to demonstrate the future of the energy supply. The rest of the supporting program is also impressive: training courses, workshops and a practical workshop. Speed dating in the Meet & Greet area will also provide intensive networking opportunities.
Last but not least, the organizers will again be organizing the off-grid sale to support a charity. This year, the proceeds will be donated to VET4Africa, which provides extensive training and further education in the sustainable energy supply sector in Africa using renewable energies.
Prominent exhibitors including Steca - A KATEK Brand, Victron Energy BV and STUDER INNOTEC will be joined by new participants such as Phoenix Contact GmbH & Co. KG, Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté (UBFC) and GIZ Büro Süd (German Development Cooperation). The conference program itself focuses on presentations and discussions on the latest technologies, including the use of green hydrogen or small wind turbines, and also on topics like energy storage solutions or best practices for the most efficient use of renewable energies. The conference will again be held in collaboration with ARE (Alliance for Rural Electrification) and is supported by the African Association of German Business e.V. - and the OEC is particularly pleased to have Prof. Dr. Stefan Liebing, the former, long-standing chairman of the association, as the keynote speaker.
The Afrika-Verein der deutschen Wirtschaft e.V. (German-African Business Association) will notably be supporting the session on female entrepreneurs and off-grid renewable energy, which explores the under-represented role of women in the sector. This year's session will focus on a status quo check after the topic was discussed at last year's conference, because the following still applies: the electrification of rural communities is opening up unprecedented opportunities for women, creating a host of social and economic benefits for them.
The OFF-GRID Expo + Conference is the largest international conference and exhibition in Europe that focuses on the off-grid power supply sector, and is aimed at those interested in this area. The high-caliber, English-language trade congress with a trade fair focuses on all the themes relating to off-grid solar, wind and hydropower systems and a self-sufficient power supply, which are particularly important in rural areas and an aid to developing regions. The unique combination of trade fair, conference and networking offers the off-grid community a framework in which to initiate business transactions and knowledge transfer. The official industry partner of the event is the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE).
