In late March, the OFF-GRID project team at Messe Augsburg handed over the proceeds of €1,000 to Carina Freudig from the humedica association.
The exhibitors of the OFF-GRID Expo + Conference 2021 have donated products for this good cause, which were sold on site at the OFF-GRID sale during the trade fair conference.
"Our OFF-GRID exhibitor community and our partner Phaesun, organized the sale of a range of products that had been donated at the recent OFF-GRID Expo + Conference in Augsburg, generating €1,000 for a good cause. We are delighted that the proceeds will support humedica's humanitarian aid efforts in these very difficult times. Business and social impact are closely linked in the off-grid sector," explains Project Manager Ekaterina Léaustic.
humedica e. V., with its head office in Kaufbeuren (Bavaria), is an international NGO which has provided humanitarian aid in over 90 countries around the world since it was founded in 1979. The aim of humedica's activities is to help people who are in urgent need owing to disasters or structural poverty.
In addition to its focus on medical emergency and disaster relief, humedica is also involved in health care assistance and in long-term development cooperation projects. This work is made possible by the support of volunteers, helpers and local partner organizations and personnel in the individual project countries.
"We are facing great challenges during this time. Whether owing to climate change, the Coronavirus pandemic or now the Ukraine war - the number of people in need of humanitarian aid worldwide is increasing," says humedica employee, Carina Freudig, as she expressed her gratitude. “Actions like those of the OFF-GRID exhibitor community enable us to react quickly and provide help where it is needed. We are extremely pleased to see this valuable commitment.”
The OFF-GRID Expo + Conference is the largest international conference trade fair in Europe that focuses on the off-grid scene. This hands-on format with a conference, trade fair and networking opportunities held at the end of the year offers all the players and enthusiasts of self-sufficient solutions (e.g. electricity, water, telecommunications) an ideal framework for their initiation into business and knowledge transfer. Participating companies and organizations can showcase their innovative solutions, services, products, projects and funding opportunities at the trade fair. Universities are represented on the Young Talent Campus. This high-caliber, English-language conference features experts who will discuss a wide range of topics relating to off-grid solar, wind and hydropower systems and a self-sufficient power supply, which are particularly important in rural areas and in aid to developing regions. The hybrid format offers physical and digital participation opportunities with an extensive international scope. The official conference partner of the event is the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE). Other partners include the company Phaesun, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO ITPO Germany).
The OFF-GRID Expo + Conference will take place on December 1 and 2, 2022, in Augsburg and as a hybrid event. The TechDay is held the day before the start of the trade fair and offers participants target group-oriented workshops with product and service training from the exhibitors. We will, of course, also organize an OFF-GRID fundraiser again this year.
